A new resource is now available on the CLRP > Office of the President > Nominations Planning that better clarifies the recommended function and duties of the Governance & Nominations Committee. President Elects – begin thinking about who you will appoint to the committee once you take office as President on January 1.
All Chapters have general liability insurance included in Chapter Shared Services (for complete details, visit CLRP > Finance > Insurance). However, this coverage may not extend to programs or activations involving higher-risk activities.
If your Chapter’s event includes activities that could pose additional liability, consider whether attendees should sign a release or waiver to participate. Providing the waiver in advance allows attendees to review it before registering or attending.
While MPI does not provide waiver templates, Chapters may wish to consult with local legal counsel to create a release form tailored to their needs.
Is there an MPI member who inspires you? Has your Chapter/Club led the way and shown amazing leadership, impact or innovation?
See the RISE Award categories to learn more.
Nominate your Chapter/Club or a peer.
Nomination Deadline: November 10, 2025, 11:59pm CST. Application links will be sent directly to nominees once their nomination is received. This year's application deadline is December 10, 2024, 11:59pm CST.
As we approach the close of the 2025 term, please review your Chapter Dashboard in its entirety for errors or missing information. If information requires updating, please use the Missing Dashboard Information template and submit it to your Regional Operations Manager. All updates should be submitted by Friday, December 5, to ensure they can be completed before the year end.
Please note that, as per the MPI Brand Guide, all Chapters/Clubs must adhere to the official Chapter/Club name format for all documents and communications.
Example: MPI Great Lakes Chapter should be the only format used. MPI Great Lakes, MPI GL Chapter, GL Chapter, Great Lakes Chapter, MPI GLC, MPIGL, MPIGLC and/or any other variation of an abbreviated format must be avoided. This applies to all documents and communication created at the Chapter/Club level.
You can find more information about this and other important brand guidelines in the CLRP > Marketing & Communication > Marketing Resources > MPI Brand Guide_7_rev4-12-21 (8.0 MPI Chapters > Chapter Names on Page 50)
As per the MPI Chapter Policy Manual, Article VIII Communications, Section 1. Brand Standards and Trademarks, Item 1.1 All Chapters must adhere to the MPI Chapter Logo and MPI Brand Guide documents provided.
Also, from the MPI Chapter Policy Manual, Article IX Miscellaneous, Section 3. Non-Compliance, Item 3.1 Chapters may not be eligible for annual Chapter performance awards and metrics incentive if they are not compliant with the MPI Chapter Bylaws and the MPI Chapter Policy Manual.
All Chapters and Clubs can request one membership discount code per calendar year to help recruit new members. The code is for 20% off new Preferred or Premier level memberships and is good for 30 days. Make the most of this opportunity by planning a membership promotion around an upcoming Chapter/Club event. For more information, view the Annual Chapter and Club Membership Campaign resource under Membership Documents > Member Recruitment on the CLRP. If you haven’t already, you have until December 31, 2025, to use your 2025 code. You can request your code from Member Services at feedback@mpi.org.
Check out this new resource – debuted at this year’s Chapter Leadership Summit – in the CLRP under Membership > Member Retention. In it, you’ll find detailed information about the retention communications sent to members from Global, as well as recommended retention efforts for your Chapter/Club. Information includes timelines, message samples, and editable email templates.
Please be aware that on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 7:00am – 7:00pm CDT we will be taking the MPI website and Single Sign-On (SSO) offline to perform an upgrade to our Association Management System, Aptify. Chapter/Club websites will also be offline during this time. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may create but it is necessary to keep our systems up-to-date and protected from any potential vulnerabilities.
If your Chapter website is showing an event image from another Chapter-it's a known bug and we’re working to get it corrected. In the meantime, here’s a quick workaround: add any image to your event, save it, then go back in and remove it. That simple step will stop the system from pulling a random image on the event until a permanent fix is released.
As you begin to build your budget for FY2026, consider if your Chapter/Club needs to obtain music licenses.
In the United States, if you are playing music that is protected by copyright for public consumption, a music license is required. This includes playing pre-event music (live or pre-recorded), walk on music during events and entertainment (bands, DJs, etc.). The organization benefitting from the works being played is the responsible party for obtaining the license (not the vendor or band actually playing the works).
There are three main performing rights organizations - ASCAP, BMI and SESAC. Each covers different "books" of creators, so many organizations choose to seek licenses from all three organizations to avoid limiting the works plaid to just one organization's catalog of covered works.

In Canada, SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) and Re:Sound fees are also due when recorded music is played at events with and without dancing. The fees are based on the number of guests and are typically paid by the business/service provider playing the music (AV companies, DJs, restaurants, etc.) but sometimes must be paid by the company producing/planning the event.
SOCAN represents songwriters, composers, and music publishers.
Re:Sound represents artists and record companies.
Anti-Human Trafficking Takes Center Stage at CNIR Conference in Puebla, MX
On September 25, Rafa Hernandez (MPI Mexico Chapter) and Jennifer Berkemeier (MPI Michigan Chapter) joined together on the stage at the XXXI CNIR Conference in Puebla, Mexico, for an important conversation on human trafficking in our industry. Thanks to Rafa, who spearheaded this effort, our LATAM members (and beyond) learned facts, heard stories, and received tips and action items for how to effectively raise awareness of this crime in their Chapters/Clubs and workplaces. Please continue to raise your voice and share information on AHT at every opportunity; every conversation matters!
