5 Questions with Reina Herschdorfer

5 Questions with Reina Herschdorfer

By Blair Potter

Leading up to International Women's Day, we spoke to key women in the meeting and event industry about their roles.

What was your very first job?
After graduating from Florida International University in Miami in International Hotel Management, I joined the opening team for the Intercontinental Hotels in Fort Lauderdale in guest relations, taking care of all the VIP guests and handling service recovery. This was a stepping stone to getting me closer to my goal to be in sales.

What strategies can help women achieve a more prominent role in our industry?
I’ve been fortunate to work alongside talented, smart and strong women. They say that men are judged by their potential and women are judged by their experience.

Women need to support each other, be mentors and role models. We are stronger united.

Describe a strategy that shifted your company culture.
Caesars Entertainment has been committed to employee and customer satisfaction for years. We have all gone through intensive self-awareness training. It’s changed the narrative, and we are more aware of how our moods impact others. This has led to a highly collaborative team environment.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career?
With over 20 years of international meeting industry and hospitality experience, I’m responsible for the marketing strategy for the $480 million meetings and events business for Caesars Entertainment. However, it’s the strong relationships built over time and the face-to-face meetings and in-person networking that I find most rewarding in addition to inspiring and helping anyone who has been on my team grow. I’m lucky and proud to be part of this global industry.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in this industry?
While at a conference years ago, I once heard a speaker say, “Successful people ask for help.” That statement resonated with me. Build relationships, learn and take initiative. Work for people who want to help you grow.
