The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center in Blacksburg, Va., is unveiling four redesigned conference rooms that leverage the same technology developed by Virginia Tech for use in classrooms and enable onsite social distance and hybrid meeting participation. Each room features front- and rear-facing cameras with centralized control, self-adjusting ceiling microphones with 360-degree pick-up that recognize and respond to changes in volume and echo, no-touch microphones connected to house and conferencing system sound, presentation systems that enable presenters to connect to the in-room projector from any location and live stream/on-demand viewing capabilities.

Hyatt Place Toronto/Mississauga Centre

Hyatt Place Toronto/Mississauga Centre has debuted in the heart of Mississauga’s business district, minutes from Square One Shopping Centre and a one-hour drive from Niagara Falls. The hotel offers 123 guest rooms and 12,458 square feet of meeting and function space.

Nobu Hotel London Portman Square

Nobu Hotel London Portman Square will debut in November 2020 with a Nobu Restaurant, bar and outdoor terrace, as well as a 600-person ballroom, a gym, wellness facilities and other meeting spaces.

More New & Renovated

The 12-story Renaissance Milwaukee West has opened in Wauwatosa, minutes from downtown Milwaukee. The property offers 196 guest rooms and suites and 9,864 square feet of meeting space, including a 4,500-square-foot ballroom that can be divided into three sections.

The Westin Anaheim (Calif.) Resort will debut in October 2020 in the heart of the Anaheim Resort District, steps away from Disneyland Resort, Angel Stadium, the Honda Center and the Anaheim Convention Center. The property will offer 618 guest rooms and suites, a rooftop lounge and 47,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces (including a 16,000-square-foot ballroom).

The new Mondrian Seoul Itaewon offers 296 guest rooms, an outdoor pool and pool bar with a deck overlooking the city, a variety of food and beverage outlets, a 9,000-square-foot ballroom and five meeting rooms.

The new Mar Monte Hotel, part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Santa Barbara, Calif., is a lifestyle boutique hotel with reimagined guest rooms, two new food and beverage concepts and “programming that reflects the distinct rhythm of the California coast.” The 200-room hotel is a reincarnation of the historic 1930s Vista Mar Monte and offers 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space with full oceanfront views.

Caribe Royale Orlando, Central Florida’s largest all-suite convention hotel, has announced a $125 million phased renovation that will include a complete renovation of all of its one-bedroom suites, the addition of a grand ballroom and a new lobby featuring extensive lighting upgrades and a dramatic new arrival experience. Construction has commenced on the ballroom and completion is expected in Spring 2021. The new, 50,000-square-foot grand ballroom will bring total meeting space to 220,000 square feet.

Hotel Drover, a 200-room Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, is set to open in early 2021 in the Fort Worth (Texas) Stockyards National Historic District with a “rustic-luxe design.” The property will offer more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space.

The JW Marriott Anaheim Resort opened in August steps from Disneyland Resort and the Anaheim Convention Center with 466 guest rooms and 43,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space.
