MPI’s GMID broadcast: Connect with colleagues, prepare for what’s next

By Blair Potter

MPI is back with its Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) broadcast on April 7. This 12-hour digital broadcast is the largest and most important event of the year for meeting professionals from around the world, featuring industry leaders who will share their experiences and thoughts on how meetings impact the global economy.

This year’s broadcast will include two key panel discussions: State of the Industry and Women in Leadership

State of the Industry will involve a discussion of near-term predictions and long-term impacts that will shape the future of the meeting and event sector with Cleo Battle, president and CEO of Louisville Tourism; Amy Calvert, CEO of the Events Industry Council, Greg DeShields, executive director of Tourism Diversity Matters; Paul Van Deventer, CEO of MPI; and moderator Jessie States, VP of the MPI Academy.

Women in Leadership will involve a candid conversation about pay transparency, effective mentor and sponsorship examples and overcoming barriers with Gerilyn Horan, VP of group sales for Hilton; Michelle Mason, president and CEO of ASAE; Casandra Matej, CEO of Visit Orlando; and Annette Gregg, senior VP of experience for MPI.

What else can GMID broadcast participants look forward to?

·      More engagement opportunities, including one-on-one peer connections, Q&As/polls with leading experts and a chat experience with translation capabilities for a global audience.

·      More participation from partners, chapters and colleagues from across the globe.

·      Learning opportunities ranging from wellness to event design to the fight against human trafficking

·      Special announcements, from the RISE Awards recipients to the 50 Most Influential Members of MPI’s first 50 years

Check out the MPItv interview with Kay Gunn, manager, education operations for MPI, who discusses what else you can expect—from connecting with colleagues to preparing for what’s next for our industry—during the GMID broadcast.
