MPI is surveying industry professionals registered to attend the World Education Congress (WEC) in Las Vegas this June to gauge sentiment and comfort related to changes in U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) mask and social distancing guidance.
The survey, which has been sent to attendees who plan to attend WEC in person June 15-17 at CAESARS FORUM in Las Vegas, will be open until May 28 and has five questions related to duty of care protocols and preferences as CDC guidelines are evolving across the U.S., including in Clark County, home to Las Vegas.
“The guidelines about COVID-related safety are changing rapidly and we are thrilled our cities are opening up—resulting in more travel, meetings and jobs,” says Annette Gregg, senior vice president of experience for MPI. “For WEC, we are ensuring the safety of our participants balanced with these new local guidelines. With our attendee survey, we hope to gain a better understanding how our attendees feel about Vegas’ current guidelines and how they might affect our onsite duty of care program.”
Clark County has revised its mitigation plan, effective June 1, in accordance with CDC guidance on masks, which recommends that those who are not vaccinated continue wearing masks and follow social distancing and other precautions until fully vaccinated. The guidance also allows fully vaccinated people to stop wearing face coverings in crowds and in many indoor locations. Masks still must be worn in most public transportation.
While MPI plans to have duty of care protocols in place for WEC, the survey asks attendees to provide their level of agreement ranging from “0” for strongly disagree to “5” for strongly agree on five questions.
The questions are:
· Provide your level of agreement with the following statement, “I am comfortable with WEC evolving its onsite duty of care to mirror the guidance provided by the CDC and Clark County, Nevada.”
· Provide your level of agreement with the following statement, “I feel it’s necessary to wear a mask when indoors.”
· Provide your level of agreement with the following statement, “I feel it’s necessary to wear a mask when outdoors.”
· Provide your level of agreement with the following statement, “I feel it’s necessary to have a minimum of three feet physical distancing when indoors.”
· Provide your level of agreement with the following statement, “I feel it's necessary to have a minimum of three feet physical distancing when outdoors.”
MPI plans to continue a duty of care program that was successful at WEC Grapevine in 2020, when more than 600 attended in person. The current protocols for WEC Vegas include:
· Name badges and lanyards will be mailed ahead of arrival.
· Onsite medical, in partnership with InHouse Physicians, S.C., will include daily temperature checks before entering the event.
· Attendees may bring their own mask. Cotton, reusable masks will be provided.
· Personal-sized hand sanitizer will be provided.
· Hand sanitizer stations will be positioned throughout the meeting space.
· Responsible seating/barriers will be utilized in all F&B and meeting areas.
· Signage/floor decals will reinforce spatial distancing and other safety reminders.
· Attendees agree to abide by and engage in certain health-and-safety-beneficial conduct such as submitting to daily temperature checks, wearing a mask at all times in public areas, engaging in appropriate physical distancing and not attending the event if one is ill or has been recently exposed to COVID-19.
