As usual, the MPI Foundation brought two stellar options to IMEX 2019, one offering an evening opportunity for attendees to network and dance the night away at an after party and the other being a silent auction that is global in scope. Both benefit the Foundation’s ongoing work.
The late-night event, called cim-clubbing, took place on 21 May at one of Frankfurt’s most well-known night spots, the Gibson Club (Zeil 85-93), and offered a chance for IMEX attendees to party and network at the same time, making new industry friends and connecting with colleagues.
The other event, the Silent Auction, has a far lower decibel level than cim-clubbing but allows a worldwide audience to bid online for compelling experiences ranging from a three-day Universal Orlando Resort package to a weekend at the InterContinental Shanghai Pudong to two nights at the W hotel in Amsterdam.
“Last year through diverse donations, the MPI Foundation was able to offer over 260 scholarships and grants. Our silent auctions are a critical source of annual funding and have supported MPI EMEA chapters with over €232,000 since 2015,” says Kevin Kirby, MPI Foundation executive director. “We’ve curated over 50 prize donations representing unique and desired events, resort stays and dining options. The auction ends at 18:00 on 23 May so don’t wait too long.”
Interested bidders can access the silent auction via the IMEX app, online or stopping by the MPI Stand (G480). The auction closes at 18.00 (6 p.m.) Frankfurt time on 23 May.
Kirby says the auction is part of a Foundation fundraising effort that goes back for years.
“To give more perspective, since 2009 over €3,750,000 has been distributed to our community and industry,” he says. “We’re about to embark upon celebrating our 35th anniversary and with that we’re exploring opportunities to broaden our ability to give back. Our industry impacts global economies. As such, we need to be global citizens and endeavor to help beyond our present scope.”
