A glance at select meeting venue openings and renovations from the past month.

CALIFORNIA

Following a $2.5 billion redevelopment, the Fairmont Century Plaza will open in Los Angeles this spring. The venue will include 351 guest rooms, 49 suites, nearly 24,000 square feet of meeting space and a 14,000 square-foot spa. 

CANADA

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler completed a $14.2 Million renovation and expansion, earlier this year, boasting 519 guest rooms and more than 32,000 square feet of event space.

COLORADO

The Limelight Aspen, will undergo a renovation beginning this spring to debut in advance of the 2021/2022 winter season. The top-to-bottom renovation will enhance all of the hotel’s public spaces, including the Limelight Lounge, conference room, lobby, and bar, as well as all 126 guestrooms and suites.  

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Last month, the Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana debuted with 347 suites, seven restaurants, a spa and private beach.

FLORIDA

Last month saw the opening of Moxy Miami South Beach, a 202-room hotel in Miami’s Art Deco District.

Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown and Hyatt House Tampa Downtown, the first combined Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels located in downtown Tampa, are now open. The 17-story building offers 345 guest rooms and 3,600 square feet of meeting and event space.

A $1 billion expansion of the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center is underway with phase one slated to open in October with expanded exhibit space. In 2024, the venue will boast 1.2 million square feet of meeting space, including a 65,000-square-foot waterfront ballroom. 

KENTUCKY

The Shelbyville Conference Center is set to open in August with more than 16,000 square feet of space spread over one floor. 

NEVADA

The reimagined and re-conceptualized casino resort, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is scheduled to open March 25.

PENNSYLVANIA

Last month, the Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia (pictured at the top of this post) opened in the heart of the Philadelphia Stadium District with 15,000 square feet of event space across six venues.

The Industrialist Hotel, Autograph Collection is opening in Pittsburgh’s Central Business District in April. The hotel features 124 guestrooms and more than 1,200 square feet of multi-purpose event space. 

TEXAS

Hyatt Regency Houston unveiled its completed multimillion-dollar renovation project last month. The updates include a complete transformation of the property’s 955 guest rooms, meeting rooms, food and beverage outlets and public spaces.  

WASHINGTON

The Fairmont Olympic, Seattle is currently undergoing a grand renovation to transform the lobby experience and all key event spaces.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

The 413-room Fairmont Washington D.C. completed a $2 million renovation of its 30,000 square feet of meeting and event space earlier this year.

WEST VIRGINIA

This month, the Hotel Morgan, a Wyndham Hotel, celebrated a post-renovation grand opening in Morgantown. The 95-year-old property offers more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
