Harveys Lake Tahoe (Nev.)

Harveys Lake Tahoe (Nev.) has announced several major capital projects, including the renovation of all 519 guest rooms in the resort’s Lake Tower, which is slated for completion in June 2020. The upgraded guest rooms and additional projects, including the debut of Gordon Ramsay HELL’S KITCHEN Lake Tahoe, as well as a new casino bar and lounge experience opening in 2020, total more than $41 million in capital expenditures. The property offers 25,000 square feet of meeting space.

Radisson RED Reykjavik (Iceland) 

Radisson Hotel Group has revealed the design concept for the 203-room Radisson RED Reykjavik. The first-ever Radisson RED in Iceland is set to open its doors in 2021. Located in the city center, the 17-story hotel will be an oceanfront property offering guests panoramic views of the ocean, city and the surrounding mountain ridge. The design is “comprehensive, welcoming, accessible and connects locals and travelers with the restaurant and bar on the ground floor, street plaza, Red Sky bar and a Terrace viewpoint.”

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, situated on 23 oceanfront acres at Pu‘u Keka‘a (Black Rock) on Ka‘anapali Beach, has unveiled a multimillion-dollar transformation of its lobby, including a new open-air lanai, lounge, reception area and The Sandbar, Ka‘anapali’s only lobby bar. The 508-room resort offers 42,000 square feet of meeting space and also debuted an ohana (family) game room as part of the second phase of the resort’s renovation, following a complete refresh of all guest rooms and suites.

Japan’s Nara Prefectural Convention Center is set to debut in spring 2020. Located 90 minutes from Kansai International Airport, the center will allow for meetings of 2,000 delegates. The adjacent JW Marriott Hotel Nara is also scheduled to open this year, marking the first JW brand hotel in Japan.

The Higgins Hotel & Conference Center opened recently in New Orleans. The hotel, owned and operated by the National WWII Museum, is an extension of the museum and continues to tell the history of the war through a 1940s Art Deco style and decor featuring artifacts from the museum. The hotel offers 230 guest rooms and 18,000 square feet of meeting space.

Banyan Tree Krabi (Thailand) will debut in Q2 2020 on Tubkaek Beach with 72 pool suites and villas near the lush forests of Mu Ko Phi Phi and Khao Ngon Nak national parks. Facilities include all-day dining, a ballroom, a wedding chapel, a beach club, a kids’ club, a fitness center and a rainforest-themed spa.

The 422-room Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe (Nev.) Resort, Spa and Casino, a lakefront resort located on the shores of North Lake Tahoe, has completed a renovation to its meeting and event venues. The $1 million renovation includes updates to the resort’s Lakeside Ballroom and Water Gardens. The resort has 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space.
