Sponsored by Cirque du Soleil
It began as a troupe of street performers in small town Quebec but has become a household name. Cirque du Soleil has redefined how the world views the circus.
One of Cirque du Soleil’s newest offerings is the energetic, urban and contemporary VOLTA, a captivating voyage of discovery that showcases never-before-seen under the Big Top acrobatics in a visually striking world. VOLTA is also another great option for group experiences, and you can save $25 per person on your next Hennessy Black VIP Experience group event.
Driven by a stirring melodic score and inspired in part by the adventurous spirit that fuels the culture of street sports, VOLTA is about finding yourself and unveiling your personal powers.
VOLTA is a story of transformation. It is about being true to oneself, fulfilling one’s true potential and recognizing one’s own power to make it possible. Ultimate freedom comes with self-acceptance, and with the liberation of the judgement of others.
Waz is a game show contestant who has lost touch with himself. He’s ashamed of who he is because he’s different. Follow him as he enters the show in search of fame, thinking that this will bring him love and acceptance from others. What he will find is something else: Fame is not the answer. If fame doesn’t provide freedom and acceptance, then what does? Will Waz reconnect with his true self—and stand up for all that makes him truly unique? Will he realize that his difference is what makes him extraordinary?
Let’s take a look at some of the exciting elements of VOLTA that will thrill your group.
Acro Lamp. An aerial artist flies in long sweeping arcs. Hanging on with his hands or feet, he swings and spins gracefully using the light to metaphorically illuminate the journey of the character.
Hand to hand. Two colorful acrobats perform a daring hand-to-hand duo while rolling on a unicycle as part of a striking group choreography.
Shape diving. In an electric, urban atmosphere, artists tumble and jump through shapes, sometimes feet first, sometimes backwards, sometimes bent in half, even adding breakdancing and hip hop-style moves into the mix.
BMX. Five riders invade the stage to deliver a jaw-dropping, fast and furious performance of nonstop acrobatics on wheels.
Flatland & Ballet Duo. Coming from disciplines that seem worlds apart, two artists create mirror-like images in a mesmerizing synchronized choreography.
Rope Skipping. With an urban, hip hop attitude, they tumble, flip and perform handstand hops through the spinning ropes.
Acrobatic Ladder. Artists execute stunning acrobatics on a giant articulated ladder pivoting on stage.
