Véronique Holveck, MPI France-Switzerland Chapter president
What is your personal story with MPI?
I joined MPI in 2009. I first had the privilege of being vice president of membership in 2018, before being president-elect in 2021. I then began a term as president for chapter and will hold this position until June 2025.
What are the characteristics that defines a great leader?
A good leader must be creative, honest and loyal to other board members. As president of a key MPI chapter like mine, I trust and motivate my team by communicating and supervising the chapter officers, to ensure that all assignments are completed. I always act as a coach.
What ROI have you received by being a volunteer for MPI?
I have been an MPI member for many years and this organization means a lot to me both personally and professionally. Through MPI, I’ve connected and shared with other event professionals. MPI also allows me to develop both my professional network and to associate myself with a worldwide community made of planners and suppliers, whose values correspond to my own.
MPI is a very active association with strong partners. I am fortunate to have been chosen to be the group leader of MPI Europe as part of this year’s hosted buyer program at IMEX Frankfurt. I was able to invite 15 European top buyers to join my group of guests.
What is the best advice that you’ve received?
Get started, believe in yourself and the potential of a community like MPI.
What are your passions?
Apart from MPI, in 2016, I was invited by the founder of Globe Network in France to be part of the first steering committee which brought together eight leading professionals in the sector for the new B2B exhibition “Pure Meetings & Events.”
I am also passionate about art history and have obtained a diploma as a certified lecturer by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in English, German & Spanish. In particular, I regularly organize exhibitions of painters or sculptors in galleries located in my region.
Do you have anything else to add?
MPI is a unique place to increase one’s knowledge of the profession, share know-how and exchange best practices around the key topics of the moment.
With the post-COVID recovery, sharing experience is essential to sustain our activities and MPI seems obvious for many new members.
